Palmerton couple wed 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Silfies of Palmerton recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Silfies were married on Feb. 5, 1953 in Cherryville. The Rev. Roy Meck officiated the ceremony.

Mrs. Silfies is the former Joyce Everett.

The Silfies have six children: Debra, and her husband Joseph Siekonic of Northampton; Herman Silfies Jr., and his wife, Yu Chung of Cottonwood, Calif.; Susan, and her husband, Jeff Stettler of Allentown; David Silfies, and his wife, Denise, of Palmerton; Timothy Silfies, and his fianceé, Donna Balliet of Palmerton; and Karen, and her husband, Mary Hayman of Lehighton.

They have 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
