Super Souper Bowl

Effort United Methodist Church is having its own version of the Super Bowl. The church calls it Souper Sunday, which is its way of replenishing stock in the church food pantry.

Begun last Sunday, and continuing this Sunday, Feb. 2, members and friends of the church have been asked to bring nonperishable items to help fill four large soup pots that will be in the narthex. (Donations of canned soups are an urgent need).

The church hopes to have a little fun and competition too. Two soup pots will represent the Super Bowl Teams, the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers and the other two will represent Pennsylvanian teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Worshippers are asked to place their respective donations in the pot that's labeled with their favorite team's logo.

At the end, the total of items placed in each pot will be counted. The winning team will be announced the following week.
