Jim Thorpe couple celebrates 50 years
Mr. and Mrs. Donald and Maxine Mertz, Jim Thorpe, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 20.
They were married in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Packerton by the Rev. William Kroft.
They were honored at an anniversary dinner hosted by their children, Charlotte Nemeth, Christine Sutters and Donald Mertz II; grandchildren, Shanea Mertz, Jared McGuire and Amanda Sutters; and great-grandchild, Kasey Kovacs.
Mrs. Mertz is retired from health care and Mr. Mertz is retired from Bethlehem Steel.
Attending the couple at their wedding were Shirley Mertz, matron of honor; the late Franklin Mertz, best man; the late Harold Buck, usher; and Connie Buck Kistler, bridesmaid.
