Arts alliance
Stage Right Alliance is being formed in the greater Tamaqua area to provide support for area art and theater groups.
Organizers hope to open the lines of communication between these groups to avoid duplication of efforts/productions and scheduling conflicts; share props, sets and costumes; and provide better public relations.

Cressona band
The Cressona Band will appear from 4-6 p.m. on June 30 at Heisler's Dairy Bar in the Lewistown Valley. This event is being sponsored by the dairy, the Companion Animal Hospital of Tamaqua and Ron and Connie Glovich.
Older and Bolder
The Salvation Army's Older and Bolder group meets every Wednesday at the Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St. Meetings include a light lunch.
A free exerette exercise program is held from 9:30-11 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in the gym.

St. Peter's Union
Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Summer Sunday School will be held at 10:15 a.m.
SS. Peter and Paul
First Friday will be observed next week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. First Friday confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m. on July 5, followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m. Communion calls will begin at 9 a.m., with the exception of the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Coaldale and Hometown. Communion calls to those parishioners will be made on Thursday.
July 6 will be a Fatima Saturday. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by a Recitation of the Rosary and Devotions before the 8 a.m. Mass.
Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass on July 7 and receive Holy Communion as a group. A rosary will be said before the Mass.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. James Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Rev. Williams was elected official pastor at Zion's during a congregational meeting held on June 23.
The Lumber River Quartet will perform at 7 p.m. on July 2 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.
