The engagement of Ayumi Wakamatsu and Matthew R. Rehrig has been announced by their parents.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Hiroshi and Yoko Wakamatsu of Naka City, Japan. She is a graduate of Mito Secondary High School and a graduate of Tokai University in Tokyo, Japan.
She is employed by YAMAHA Corporation in the English Education Department.
The bridegroom is the son of Patrick and Susan Conner of West Penn Township, Tamaqua. He is a 2002 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, and a 2006 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania.
He is employed by ECC Japan as an English teacher.
The couple resides in Tokai City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
A wedding is being planned for Aug. 10 of this year.
