Brent Homcha of Nesquehoning graduated from Penn State University, University Park, on Dec. 22, 2012, with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in engineering mechanics.

While at Penn State, Homcha was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He was also involved in THON, the Penn State Dance Marathon, where in 2012 he danced for 46 hours to raise funds for the fight against pediatric cancer. He participated in numerous intramural sports and was a member of the triathlon, jiu-jitsu, and boxing club sports.

Homcha achieved dean's list a number of times, including the fall 2012 semester.

He was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Order of the Omega honor societies. One of his fondest memories while at college was the day he spent in the Nittany Lion mascot suit at a fundraising event for children at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center campus.

Homcha has been selected for an engineering officer position in the United States Air Force, where he will undergo basic officer training and upon his commissioning, work as an engineer in the Air Force's engineering operations.

Homcha is the son of Steve and Marge Homcha of Nesquehoning and the grandson of Frank and Helen Homcha of Nesquehoning and Joseph and Florence Filip of Summit Hill. He is a 2008 graduate of Marian Catholic High School.
