Master gardeners
Schuylkill County's Master Gardener Program is looking for a few good volunteers. A meet and greet informational session will be held at 7 p.m., April 16, at the Ag Center, 1202 Ag Center Dr., Pottsville.
Anyone who loves gardening and is willing to help/teach others is welcome to apply.
The Master Gardener Program is administered by Penn State University, which provides volunteers with special training in horticulture. Master Gardeners then share their knowledge with the public through demonstration gardens, a horticulture hot line, youth programs, classes and more.

Story time
The Tamaqua Public Library's Spring Story Time will be held from 10-11 a.m., every Tuesday and Wednesday, from March through May 15. This year's theme is "Opposites." In addition to reading stories, participants will sing, make crafts and have snacks.
Sessions are open to children between the ages of 2-5 and younger siblings are welcome, with parental supervision.

Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service this Palm Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Rev. Roberts will also officiate at a contemporary service at 10:25 a.m., at the Tamaqua YMCA. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Also on Sunday, the to save a life growth group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the couples sacred marriage growth group will meet at 7 p.m.

SS. Peter and Paul
Stations of the Cross are held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays during Lent in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Holy Hour, recitation of the rosary and confessions begin at 6 p.m. A Holy Hour and confessions are also held Saturdays from 4-5 p.m.
The choir rehearses Wednesdays after Stations of the Cross.
Help will be needed on March 23 to strip palms in preparation for Palm Sunday Masses. Anyone able to assist may report to the social hall at 9 a.m.
Palm Sunday Masses will be celebrated at 8 and 10:30 a.m.
Holy Week services will include: Wednesday, Mass and Holy Communion at 8 a.m., Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m.; Holy Thursday, Sacrament of Reconciliation from 4 to 4: 30 p.m. and following the 7 p.m., Mass of the Lord's Supper; Good Friday, celebration of the Lord's Passion at 3 p.m., followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which will also be held from 7 to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday Easter Vigil, blessing of baskets at 1 p.m., vigil liturgy at 8 p.m., followed by High Mass; Easter Sunday, Masses at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Palm Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.
Activities for next week include: Wednesday, midweek Lenten service at 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church; Maundy Thursday, service at 7 p.m.
First Methodist
The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Palm Sunday in First United Methodist Church.
Also this Sunday, the Palm Sunday Cantata "Touched By Christ" will be presented at 6 p.m., followed by a pizza supper, followed by a Bible study session.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, chancel choir rehearses at 7 p.m.; Saturday, prayer vigil from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Easter Sunday worship will be at 10:45 a.m.
