A very special thank you
Dear Editor:
To the supervisors, residents and businesses of Lower Towamensing Township, I would like to tell you about a special organization and group in your township.
They are the volunteers of the Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Department. I have spent 16 years in the fire service, my last three with this organization since moving. I have learned ever more about the bond that exists from a small group that puts so much time and effort into serving their community. These men not only put a lot of time into helping the public, but also helping their own at a time of need.
Over the past year, I've had to deal with some medical issues and personal issues that have emotionally drained me and made me decide I had to hang it up as a volunteer for a while (retire), but over the past year the members of the Aquashicola Fire Department have gone above the call of duty to help me both emotionally and to help put food on the table for me, my wife and dog who has since passed away when I was out of work for some of these issues.
My life is slowly starting to turn around in big part thanks to these men. This is why we, as a community, really need to say thank you and show our support to not just his great fire department, but all the volunteers out there who do so much to not only serve and protect us but also so much behind the scenes to help their own which we never hear about.
To the Aquashicola Fire Department, may you always watch over your brave men and women and return you always safe to home.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey S. Hausman,
Palmerton
