Tamaqua man

William David Lee, 38, also known as Southern Dave, whose last known address was Tamaqua, pleaded guilty to a simple assault charge and was sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes to serve six to 12 months in the county prison, pay $50 to Criminal Justence Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, a $50 monthly supervision, make restitution of $812.12 to the Department of Public Welfare, and $50 to the district attorney for a bench warrant issued to bring him to court.

He was cited by Tamaqua Cpl. Dwayne Hacker, of assaulting Eric Craigle, 33 N. Railroad St. The bench warrant was issued when he failed to appear in the county court for his guilty plea.

Revoke ARD

Edward John Flaim, 19, of 22 Vulcan Road, Barnesville, was removed from the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders by Judge John Domalakes for violating the conditions of the program. He now faces trial on the charge of unauthorized use of his mother's car.

Sentences

Alex Colon-Zavala, 49, Mahanoy City, who was found guilty by a jury last February of charges of manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, was sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin to serve 11 to 36 months in a state correctional facility with credit of serving 116 days in the county prison, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, and $437 in lab fees. He was cited by Trooper Troy Greenawald in Mahanoy City.

Kevin Paul Elenchin, 20. who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, was sentenced by Judge Baldwin to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, however, he received credit for spending 72 hours in an inpatient facility and was immediately released on parole. He also was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, a $50 monthly supervision fee, make restitution of $380 to Schuylkill Medical Center-South, attend the alcohol highway safety school and receive outpatient treatment. Elenchin was cited by Trooper Michael Allar when stopped on Louck Road in Washington Township.

Bail hearings

John J. Kamant Jr., 52, Pottsville, after a hearing had his bail set at $25,000 unsecured by Judge John Domalakes with stipulations that he reside at 542 N. Centre St., Apt. 2, Pottsvllle, and cannot relocate without prior permission from court, must not possess nor consume alcohol or illegal drugs, and stay away from establishments that serve primary alcohol, and must have no contact with the victim.

Kamant faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal attempt to commit theft at the property of James and Pamela Foley, 224 Jackson St,, Port Carbon. He was cited by Chief Jon J. Bowman.

The bail of Scott Schoffstall, 21, Pottsville, was revoked by Judge Domalakes and he was remanded to the county prison upon his release from an inpatient center. He faces a charge of receiving a credit card stolen from the purse which was in the car of Roberta Domlesky.

Zoning permits

Eleven zoning permits were issued in February by the county zoning office with the estimated cost of construction at $1.3 million. Permits were obtained by the following:
