Tamaqua couple wed 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. David Keip of Tamaqua celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26.

Mrs. Keip is the former Josephine Bair, daughter of the late Albert and Lena Bair of Pottsville. She is retired from the local garment and food industries.

Mr. Keip is the son of the late John and Mary Keip of Brockton. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served aboard the USS New Jersey battleship. Before retiring, he was employed at Packaging Corp. in Trexlertown and Boyer's Market in Tamaqua.

The couple has four children: Jean, wife of Paul Scarloss, Hometown; David and his wife, Suzanne Gallagher, Coaldale; Melissa Ann, who died at birth; and Raymond Yocum, who passed away last month.

They have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Keips plans to celebrate with a trip next summer.
