Garlic planted

The garlic planting and tours of the Garden of Giving in McMichaels were a success and organizers are grateful to all who participated, as well as those who have given their support throughout the year.

This includes Charles Snyder, New Holland Tractors, and donors who helped get a new tractor, and Eric Galante, whose Eagle Scout project gave the garden eight more raised beds, bringing the number up to 32.

The garden is always in need of volunteers to help in several aspects depending on one's skills and interests. Donations of supplies, such as egg shells, cartons, and wood ash (with containers provided to donors), and funding to purchase what is needed for the garden and chickens are always welcome.

The Garden of Giving is an excellent opportunity for youth and Scouting groups to learn about gardening, science, health, nutrition, and many other valuable life skills and lessons, while helping neighbors in Monroe County in need.
