Gallery show

The Tamaqua Community Art Center will sponsor a meet and greet session for local photographer Tracy A. Perry. The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 26, at 125 Pine St.

The artist will be available to share the history behind each piece of art.

The free meet and greet session is open to the public.

SWNC

The South Ward Neighborhood Committee meeting for tonight has been canceled. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17.

Older and bolder

Sept. 11 marked the kick off date for the fall session of the Tamaqua Salvation Army's Older and Bolder group. Upcoming activities for September will include: Sept. 25, Health Rhythms Drum Circle, with Moe Jerrant; Sept. 27, bell performance at the annual Salvation Army Annual Dinner meeting.

October plans include: Oct. 2, special presentation by Candy Yuengling; Oct. 9, bell practice and chair stretching; Oct. 15, Diakon Senior Expo and bell performance at the Fairlane Village Mall.

The Older and Bolder group's regular sessions are held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays.

St. John UCC

Sunday worship services are held at 9:30 a.m. in St. John United Church of Christ.

A time of food and fellowship will be held following the service. The weekly radio broadcast is aired at 11:30 a.m., every Sunday, on WLSH Radio, AM station 1410.

Sunday school classes meet at 11 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Monday, spiritual council meets at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.

St. Peter's Union

Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday School will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the bell choir will rehearse at 10:15 a.m.; Daisies, Brownies and Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m. and the youth group will meet at 6 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, play practice at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, prayer group will meet at 4:45 p.m.

The choir rehearses on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: junior choir at 7 p.m. and senior choir at 7:30 p.m.

The worship service on Sept. 29 will be held outdoors.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. John Tomlinson will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Next week's activities include: Thursday, learning ministry meets at 6 p.m., Angel Choir meets at 6 p.m., Shepherd Choir rehearses at 6:30 pm. and Chancel Choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.
