Area woman celebrates 91st birthday

Martha Schoch, a resident of Heritage Hill, Weatherly, recently celebrated her 91st birthday.

She was born on Sept. 21 1922, in Bismark, N.D. the second youngest of six children.

At age 6, Martha moved with her family to Hauto. After graduating from Nesquehoning High School in 1939, she moved to Orlando, Fla. with her sister, Jenny, to assist the troops during the war effort at the Orlando Army base.

During this time she met her husband, Jerry. The couple resided in Florida after the war and raised their only daughter, Carol, who died in 1999.

Martha, or "Mary" as her grandchildren call her, has six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She celebrated her special day with family and friends.
