Cemetery cleanup
St. Matthew's UCC asks if anyone wants to keep items placed on cemetery plots to please remove them by early Saturday morning. There will be a cemetery cleanup April 12 and all items left on the grave sites will be removed.
Holy Week events
St. Matthew's UCC will observe Palm Sunday, Sunday, April 13. The traditional worship service will be at 9 a.m. Sunday School, for all ages, is at 10:30 a.m.
At noon there will be a Contemporary Service featuring country, gospel and contemporary music provided by "The Path," of which Randy and RJ Cramer are members. This is an informal service open to anyone.
Communion will be distributed at both services.
April 17, a Maundy Thursday service will be held beginning with a covered dish dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a dramatic communion service at 7 p.m.
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network will be hosting a Good Friday service at 1 p.m., April 18, at St. Matthew's. The service will include a dramatic reading and there will be an offering collected for families in need.
PVEN is a network of area churches joined together in a cooperative effort to provided essentials to low-income families or families in crisis in the West End.
Saturday, April 19, is the Egg Hunt and games in the picnic grove at 2 p.m. and is open to the public. Donations of real hard-boiled dyed eggs as well as plastic eggs and bags of candy are needed. If you would like to donate eggs and candy, please drop them off at the office during business hours of Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or Saturday by noon.
Historical society
The Eldred Township Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at the Eldred Township municipal building. It is open to anyone interested in attending.
Exercising seniors
There is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 from 9:30-10:30 a.m., every Tuesday and Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.
