Electronics recycling

Electronics recycling in the borough of Summit Hill will be Aug. 13. Items must be out at the curb the night before.

Included in the event are: televisions, computers, keyboards, monitors, etc. All televisions must be in one piece with no parts removed or they will not be taken.

This will be a curbside pickup for Summit Hill residents only.

Help with addiction

If you or someone you know is struggling with drug and/or alcohol abuse and wants to get help, be sure to attend Church on the Rock at 11 a.m. Aug. 10.

The "Holy Ground" worship team from the "Teen Challenge" program is coming to Church on the Rock with music and testimony.

During this special service, you will hear from men and women who have taken the path to recovery and victory through this Christ-centered rehabilitation program.

The Teen Challenge program serves both teens as well as adults. The public is invited and strongly encouraged to attend.

Church on the Rock is located at 1 W. Hazard St. in Summit Hill in the Summit Hill Heritage Center.

Vacation Bible School

Church on the Rock will hold a vacation Bible school from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Aug. 11-15 at "Fennon's Grove," located at the intersection of Andreas Road and Winter Mountain Drive in Andreas.

Children will learn about Jesus, play games, swim, do crafts and make friends.

Nesquehoning

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The regular monthly meeting and annual picnic of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 will be begin at 1 p.m. Sunday.

All those planning to attend should bring a covered dish and contact Maureen as soon as possible so proper food arrangements can be made.

Please note the change of day and time for monthly meetings; they will now be held on the second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m.

Panther Valley

Golden Agers

In place of the regular scheduled meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers, the annual picnic will be held at noon on Monday at the # 9 Mine Museum Grove. Anyone wishing to join in the activities should arrive earlier.

Members who signed up and paid are asked to attend.

The next meeting will be held on Aug. 25. Persons who celebrate birthdays in May, June, July and August will be recognized.

Nesquehoning

The menu for the free children's lunch next week at Meed's Church, 126 W Catawissa St. in Nesquehoning is as follows:

• Monday: Spaghetti with meat sauce, peaches

• Tuesday: Taco casserole, nachos with cheese

• Wednesday: Pot luck surprise

• Thursday: Grilled cheese, veggie sticks, pudding

• Friday: End of Summer Party, with hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad and make your own sundaes

This will be the last week for the summer lunch program.
