Kick off Hike and Tour
Northern Lehigh Girl Scout Service Unit 733 will kick off the 2014-15 Girl Scout Year by holding a Kick off Hike and Tour of the Walnutport Canal Locktender's House Saturday.
All registered Girl Scouts in the Service Unit are invited to attend. The group will meet at the Locktender's House on Lehigh Street in Walnutport at 9 a.m. and tour the Locktender's House until 10 a.m.
After the tour, they will be going on a hike to the new Lock 25 Picnic Area on the South side of the canal for a picnic lunch, which will be provided. They will be back at the Locktender's House for pick up by 1 p.m.
Representatives from SU 733 will be at the Lock House at 9 a.m. for anyone interested in signing their girls up for Scouting for the 2014-2015 school year. These girls would be welcome to go along on the hike if signing up on the 23, but would need to be accompanied by a parent on the hike. Representatives will return to the Locktender's House and be on hand from 1-1:30 p.m. after the hike for anyone interested in sign ups.
Sign Ups will also take place Meet the Teacher tonight at Peters Elementary School, and Aug. 27 at Slatington Elementary. Flyers will be distributed in schools during the first week of school for anyone interested in joining Girl Scouts this year. Leaders are also needed for all age levels.
