Mass time
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will celebrate Mass in honor of the Solemnity of Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Saturday worship
Effort UMC will hold a Saturday worship service at 6 p.m.
Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville holds a Saturday service at 5 p.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated. This service will now be held every Saturday, not just the first Saturday of the month.
Senior menu
The Chestnuthill Senior Center group, meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, will be able to enjoy a luncheon on Friday of barbecue pork riblet.
Those wishing to attend are reminded to call the site manager Dolores Casalaspro at 570-242-6770 by 11 a.m. the day before.
Next week the Wednesday menu will be tomato basil fish.
The next free blood pressure screening will be given at the center on Jan. 14.
FBLA success
At least 39 Pleasant Valley High School FBLA members qualified for the state FBLA competition to be held in April. Three additional students may have qualified as well, depending on state word.
Santa's helpers
The staff at Pleasant Valley Elementary School became Santa's helpers as they met on Dec. 23 and wrapped gifts for over 30 families and the 100 children the group was supporting this holiday season.
Schools reopen
Pleasant Valley School District schools will return to the daily school schedule on Monday.
Chestnuthill supervisors
The 2015 reorganizational meeting for Chestnuthill Township is at 7 p.m. Monday. The first regular monthly meeting of the supervisors will follow immediately.

Home Association
The West End American Legion Home Association is slated to meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Post home in Gilbert.
Two offerings
Bernie Kozen, West End Park & Open Space Commission executive director, has discounted ski tickets available. Bingo will resume at the Chestnuthill Park on Jan. 16.
