The Pleasant Valley Middle School PAC/PTO is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m., Thursday.
Pleasant Valley High School PAC is to meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19.
PV School Board
Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education is slated to meet at 8 p.m., Thursday in the district office in Brodheadsville.
Library offers
The Western Pocono Community Library is offering a Family Fun Time at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. There will be a matinee at 1 p.m., also on Saturday.
VA entitlements
Our Lady Queen of Peace is offering a meeting to discuss entitlements under the Veterans Affairs. The meeting will be held in a classroom in the hall at 10 a.m., Saturday. Anyone with questions can call Mike Bagley at 570-646-7930.
Blue & Gold
Cub Scout Pack 98, Brodheadsville, will have its Blue & Gold ceremony on Feb. 22 at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School. The snow date is March 1. Scouts are to be there at 10:30 a.m.
Free meal
Queen of Peace will hold its next community supper from 3-4 p.m., Sunday. The next luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19.
Diversity Task Force
Pleasant Valley's Diversity Task Force is on the calendar for a meeting at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Chestnuthill
Supervisors
The Chestnuthill Township board of supervisors is slated to meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the township building on Route 715, Brodheadsville.
Weekly blood drive
A Miller-Keystone blood drive is held every Wednesday at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville. For appointments call 1-800-223-6667. Walk-ins are welcome as well.
Can-A-Day project
The youth in the Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, have opted to initiate a Can-A-Day as their mission project for 2014.
They are determined to collect 365 cans of food, or food items, because they have learned, through the study of the Bible, how much they have and others don't.
Collected food items will be the building materials for a stone altar to be constructed in the church narthex. The Sunday Schoolers hope to reach, or even exceed, their goal before the Lenten season begins March 5.
Senior program
The Chestnuthill Seniors meeting at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville will have a special program Wednesday. "Your Hips and Knees" will be presented by Dr. Roger Componovo from Mountain Valley Orthopedics at 11:15 a.m. For more information, call 570-420-3746.
If the schools are closed due to inclement weather, the center will also be closed.
Lions longevity
Four members of the Western Pocono Lions Club were recognized for years of membership and service at the Lions 14U District Cabinet meeting held at the Pine Grove Fire Hall in Schuylkill County Sunday.
The late William Bud Kresge, who was until his death last month the only surviving charter member of the club, had earned a 65-year chevron of recognition. Also receiving chevrons were PDG Robert Kelsey for 15 years as well as Adele Argot and Richard Zimmerman for 10 years, each.
Leadership seminar
Pleasant Valley High School 11th graders are reminded that there is a possibility to attend the District 14U Lions sponsored Leadership Seminar at Camp Victory April 25-26. Those interested should contact the school guidance office or a nearby Lions Club.
