We need to fix our schools

Published February 22. 2014 09:00AM

Dear Editor

The last Lehighton School Board meeting went well. I spoke on taxes, millage, and tax increases. David Bradley spoke on school construction costs, the ESCO concept.

Repairs and upgrades without the high architect's fees makes sense.

We need to fix and use the existing elementary school buildings.

This Monday the school board will decide on using an ESCO Construction Bid for the middle school. It will be brought up at the Lehighton School Board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24 for a vote.

I wish to thank the board members for giving this concept a chance.

I would appreciate that they get a bid back before a decision is made on the elementary schools in order to make a good evaluation of the process.

I attended the Freedom Phoenix Summit's annual weekend conference in Phoenix this past week. Details can be reviewed at freedomphoenix.com, a great Libertarian and Freedom First event.

I wish to thank all of the taxpayers that were able to attend the school construction meeting; however, we still need to keep the pressure on for making decisions based on facts and lowering taxes.

Regards,

Frank Tamburri,

Lehighton
