Lansford

St. John's Lutheran

St. John's Lutheran Church, Lansford, Wednesday evening supper, Bible study, and worship is canceled for this week.

Next week the 7 p.m. service will be the Ash Wednesday service and open to all who wish to begin Lent with worship.

Nesquehoning

Woman's club to meet

The members of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3 in the Zion Lutheran Church hall. President Carol Zickler urges club members to attend. In case of inclement weather members will be notified by phone of a cancellation.

Entertainment will be provided by Donna Hinkle featuring a sing-a-long. Some rules for the handbook will also be discussed.

The executive board will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 2, hosted by Connie Kravelk at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Free community dinner

Meed's Methodist, 126 W. Catawissa St., is having a free community dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today, Wednesday. All are invited.

Summit Hill

Democrats to meet

The Summit Hill Jeffersonian Democratic Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the borough hall on West Amidon Street. Upcoming elections, information about petitions, and other upcoming events in the local area will be discussed.

Nathan Halenar, president, will be in charge of the session.

Recreation Commission

A meeting of the Summit Hill Recreation Commission will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 in the Community Center.

Among the items to be discussed will be the annual Easter event for children of the community.

Coaldale

Tax office

The Coaldale tax office will be closed Feb. 26 through March 3 to ready taxes for mailing. Normal hours will resume March 4.

To qualify for per capital exemption, complete the application on the front and back of the tax form, with proof of eligibility.

Panther Valley

School board meets Thursday

The monthly meeting of the Panther Valley School Board will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the board room at the Middle School.

Among topics which might be discussed is a proposed building project in which the pool area of the high school will be converted into classroom space.

Individuals are encouraged to attend if they have questions about the project.
