Lenten Bible Study
Effort United Methodist Church's pastor will host a six-week Lenten Bible Study entitled, Final Words from the Cross. The study will be held each Wednesday, from March 5 through April 9, in Wesley Hall.
Soup & salad will be served from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., with the study running from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. A sign-up sheet is in the Welcome Center. Today is the last day to register.
Lenten services will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. following the Bible Study, commencing with Ash Wednesday, March 5.
Violence awareness
The Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville will host a program on Teen Dating: Violence Awareness at 6:30 p.m. today. For more information call the library at 570-992-7934.
West End GOP
The West End Republican Club will meet at 7 p.m. today at Luna Rosa Restaurant on Route 209 in Gilbert instead of the traditional Tuesday evening meeting. Those interested in having a pre-meeting dinner should meet at 6 p.m.
Parent info night
Pleasant Valley Middle School eighth to ninth grade Parent Information Night will be held at 7 o'clock tonight in the high school auditorium.
PV School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday in the district office in Brodheadsville.
Monroe Seniors
The West End group, meeting at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville, meets at 9 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.
Saturday service
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, will hold its monthly Saturday evening worship service for at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Contemporary service
Weekly Saturday evening Contemporary worship services at Effort UMC, led by Ken Edwards, will be at 6 p.m., beginning March 1.

The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at the township municipal building on Route 715
Volunteers honor event
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church volunteers are to be feted at a Mardi Gras Volunteer Appreciation Extravaganza from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, in McCawley Hall.
The church wants to thank them for all they do for the parish. Anyone who has volunteered in any of the church ministries: organizations, choirs, ministers, altar servers, etc. throughout the year, is invited to join in for a special night of recognition and appreciation.
Ash Wednesday service
McMichaels UMC, on White Church Road in McMichaels, will hold an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7 p.m., March 5, with the Imposition of Ashes during the service. All are welcome.
