Meeting change
The board of directors for the Western Pocono Lions Club will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 8, due to the holiday. That meeting will be at the Western Pocono Community Library at 7 p.m. All Lions are welcome.
National Soup Month
In honor of January being National Soup Month, the Western Pocono Community Library is hosting a soup event in early January. For more information call the library at 570-992-7934.
Band parents
Pleasant Valley Band parents will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the high school.
Monroe Seniors
Seniors will meet at Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville in the Fellowship Hall at 9 a.m. Friday. Meetings are held each Wednesday and Friday. On Jan. 8, free blood pressure screenings will take place from 10-11 a.m.
If schools are closed due to inclement weather, the center will be closed also.
Devotion to Blessed Mother
Our Lady Queen of Peace church will hold its first Saturday Devotion to the Blessed Mother on Saturday, Jan. 4, after the 8 a.m. Mass in the Chapel.
Greyhound adoption
Pocono Greyhound Adoption will hold a Meet & Greet at Tractor Supply Co., Route 209, Brodheadsville, from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday.

Zion Lutheran will hold its monthly Saturday worship, beginning at 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4.
Financial aid
The Pleasant Valley School District will host a Financial Aid night, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the old PVHS auditorium.
