The annual Carbon County 4-H Picnic and Recognition event will be held at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 19 in the Koch/Wildoner shelter at Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Jim Thorpe.

The picnic is open to the whole family, the county Extension Board, 4-H Development Committee or just a good supporter of 4-H.

Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a traditional covered dish dinner. The covered dish can be an appetizer, main dish or dessert. Hot dogs and barbecue, as well as beverages will be provided.

Each family must bring their own place settings (napkins, plates, cups, and silverware) and also their covered dish.

An awards and recognition ceremony will take place following dinner. Awards will also be presented in areas of teen leadership, animal sciences, foods and nutrition and more.

To attend, call Georgia Farrow at the extension office at 570-325-2788 by Aug. 13, to let her know how many family members will be attending.

Help is needed with set up and clean up, registration and tickets, the invocation, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge, serving and preparing hot dogs, and leading the candlelight ceremony.
