Art center tours
The Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St., will be open during Sunday's Summerfest celebration, In addition to an art show, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the center will host poetry readings and musical performances beginning at 2 p.m.
Tours of the newly renovated performing arts hall and the Black Diamond Pottery Studio will also be available. Information on a bus trip to Broadway in New York City on Oct. 4 will also be available.
In other art center news, the Tamaqua Area Community Theatre will be holding auditions for three upcoming productions "The Groom Has Cold Feet," "The Woodsman and the Fairy" and a "Midsummer's Night Dream."
"The Groom Has Cold Feet" is an old time Western murder mystery, which will be performed in August. Auditions for actors/actresses, between the ages of 12 and 20, will be held July 14, 15 and 16, beginning at 6 p.m. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied to the audition by a parent.
"The Woodsman and the Fairy" is a short comedy written by Candice Cain and is based on an Aesop's Fable, while "A Midsummer's Night Dream," the Shakespearean comedy, will be condensed to one act. Performances for both productions will be held in August. Dual auditions will be held June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. and June 21, 2 to 5 p.m. Producers are looking for actors/actresses between the ages of 8 and 50. A one minute monologue will be needed, but samples will be provided.

Tax office
The office of Tamaqua Tax Collector Pamela McCullion will be closed the week of June 16 and will reopen on June 23.
Mail payments will still be accepted during this time.
Cressona Band
The Cressona Band will perform a free concert at the Tamaqua ABC Hi-Rise, 222 E. Broad St., on June 18. The concert, which will feature show tunes, marches, overtures and songs of yesteryear, will begin at 7 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend.

St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Holy Trinity Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.
Activities for next week will include: Thursday, finance committee meets at 6:30 p.m., property committee meets at 7 p.m.
St. Peter's Union
Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Summer Sunday school classes are held at 10:15 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will include a celebration of Father's Day.
The spiritual council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
