Something is rotten in Penn Forest

Published June 14. 2014 09:00AM

Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter after attending the June 2 Penn Forest Township meeting. I am concerned that two of our township supervisors (one being the chairman), were bullying the hired help, causing the encounter that occurred on May 9, leading up to the suspension and termination of Cindy Henning and Carol Matthews.

The way the termination was handled seemed suspicious, with the perpetrators involved with the infraction spearheading the vote to terminate the secretaries. And our township solicitor just sat back and let it all happen. I believe it was illegal; Scott Lignore and Butch Reiner should have abstained from voting. I believe the outcome may have been different.

No township employee has the right to manhandle anyone (co-workers or not) then have the nerve to buy flowers to try and smooth if over (give me a break!). Is that how a township government works?

I think Butch Reiner and Scott Lignore should "man up" and turn in their resignations. I also believe that union busting is part of this issue. If these two township officials treated their co-workers with the code of respect they deserved, none of this would of happened!

Also, if Cindy Henning presses the assault charges against Butch Reiner, Reiner should hire representation on his own and not use the township's money.

Thank you for your time.

William Miller
