Lehighton couple wed 50 years
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Muffley
Maryann and Melvin Muffley of Lehighton recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They were married May 16, 1964, by the Rev. Daniel Shook, pastor, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowmanstown.
Mrs. Muffley is the daughter of the late John and Stella Behler of Bowmanstown. Her husband is the son of the late Stewart and Arvilla Muffley of Lehighton.
The couple has three children: Rhonda, wife of John Rupell of Lehighton; Malinda, wife of Kyle Eckman of Lehighton; and Kimberly, wife of Matthew Williams of Walnutport.
They have 10 grandchildren: Drewann Troutman, Erin Rupell, Breane Rupell, Mel Eckman, Shayne Eckman, Taylor Biechy, Jonathan Rupell, Logan Biechy, Tanner Eckman and Riley Williams. A great-grandson, Bennett Troutman, is deceased.
On May 17 the couple held a renewal of vows and a reception at Franklin Fire Company.
In the fall, they plan to celebrate with a trip to Nashville, Tennessee.
