Lenten services
Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Brodheadsville, will host a multichurch Lenten service this evening with soup and bread at 6:30 p.m. and worship at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Harry Laubach from Appenzell Lutheran will be preaching.
Effort UMC continues using a study book and DVD by Adam Hamilton called Final Words from the Cross. The evening will begin with soup and salad at 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., followed by the study from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. in Wesley Hall. The Lenten service takes place in the sanctuary from 7 to 7:30 p.m.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, has its Following Christ program tonight from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. It includes dinner, worship through prayer and music, and a teaching followed by small group discussion.
Zion Lutheran has its Lenten supper and Bible study at 6:15 and worship service at 7:30 p.m.
School board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education is slated to meet at 8 p.m. Thursday in the district office in Brodheadsville.
Little League
The Friday night baseball winter workouts for league 8- to 12-year-olds has been extended to include 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
PVHS musical
Annie will be performed at Pleasant Valley High School at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m., Sunday. For more information one can call the high school at 570-402-1000.
Boomer's Angels

Immunizations due
Pleasant Valley seventh-grade families are reminded that seventh-grade immunizations are due to school nurse by May 2. Children for whom this is not accomplished will be excluded from attending school on May 5.
Blood drive

PVEN needs
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network food pantry needs canned tuna, cereal, peanut butter, and jelly. In addition the PVEN clothing room needs boys and girls school clothing in all sizes as well as socks for both genders. Also needed are sizes women's and girls' Junior size clothing.
Donations can be taken to one's church or dropped off at the service center on McIlhany Road near the Chestnuthill Diner from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesdays and Fridays, or other times by appointment.
Tenebrae service
At 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, Good Friday, Zion United Lutheran Church Choir and Friends will present a cantata and Tenebrae service, The Seven Last Days, by Joel Raney, under the direction of Nancy Joy Koch, at the church in Brodheadsville.
Mission auction
Effort United Methodist Church is hosting its annual Mission Outreach Auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in the church's social hall. The Rev. Robin and Mark Wells will serve as event auctioneers.
Auction items will be on display by 6:30 p.m. Free snacks and beverages will be available throughout the evening. All proceeds benefit the church-sponsored missionary family in Bolivia, Volunteers in Mission work team, and Youth Reach Mission work trip in July. The Bolivia-based missionaries, the Zimmerman family, will be attending the auction and all worship services this weekend.
