Graduates from basic infantry training

Gregory N. Danchak Jr., son of Gregory and Thelma Danchak of Lansford, recently graduated from U.S. Army Basic and advanced infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

At Fort Benning Pvt. Danchak, a 2013 Panther Valley High School graduate, studied military customs and history, with an emphasis on intense physical training, advanced weapons training, close quarters combat, hand-to-hand combat, combat tactic and targeting and operating a 120 mm and 60 mm mortar weapons system.

Upon AIT graduation, Pvt. Danchak and those in his company received the coveted honor of donning the blue cord of the U.S. Army Infantry.

Pvt. Danchak has been assigned to duty with the historical and highly decorated 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson in Colorado and will serve as a mortar man.
