Panther Valley students perform with All-State Lions Band
The 2014 All-State Lions Band was held at the Doubletree at Greentree in Pittsburgh May 16-17, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Lions State Convention.
For over 30 years, the Pennsylvania Lions have organized an All-State Band to accompany the Lions to the annual state and international conventions.
All lodging and meal expenses are covered by the Pennsylvania Lions while at the convention.
Panther Valley students who participated are sophomore Jordan Reis, 2014 graduate Jerdil Castillo, sophomore Mary Lazar and 2013 graduate Roxanne Person, who is currently a student in the music program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
From June 30 through July 9, Jordan, Jerdil and Roxanne will travel to Toronto for the Lions International Convention.
This will begin with a concentrated rehearsal period held at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College.
Following rehearsals in Gettysburg, the band will depart for a six-day tour to Toronto.
While there they will participate in the Lions International Parade and give several concerts.
All members of the international band are in the concert band and marching parade band.
Some members may also be in the jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble or other chamber groups.
