Crime and unusual punishment

Published November 04. 2014 04:00PM

Dear Editor,

I am writing because there are stores that are giving employees time off without pay for selling cigarettes to people who are old enough to buy but under 30 and not carding them. I call that entrapment.

When a man has a beard, that proves that the guy is not under age. These stores give time off to people that live paycheck to paycheck. How rotten are these companies?

People have enough troubles in life, and then they do this to their employees.

How can they penalize a person for selling cigarettes to a person of age?

I can see getting punished if the person was actually a minor.
