Founder of 'To Write Love On Her Arms' to speak at Moravian
Jamie Tworkowski, founder of "To Write Love On Her Arms," will be speaking at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at Moravian College in Bethlehem.
The event is free. Music will be by Eric James of The Last Royals.
"To Write Love On Her Arms" is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Its purpose is to encourage, inform, inspire and invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since its start in 2006, it has donated over $1.2 million directly into treatment and recovery and answered over 170,000 emails from over 100 countries.
"We're excited about the opportunities we're getting to bring the TWLOHA message to universities. We talk about things that people tend not to talk about and we're trying to meet people where they are," says Tworkowski.
"With each of these nights, it's an attempt at an honest conversation, an attempt at introducing the possibilities of hope and help and community. More than anything, we're trying to let people know that they're not alone and we're trying to start a conversation that continues long after we leave town."
