Fantastic fashion show
The Western Pocono Lioness Club held its 18th annual Fashion Show Sunday, with the theme of celebrating the club's 35th birthday.
Lioness Carol Heppa said it was a wonderful afternoon and everyone had a great time. She said the fashions were beautiful and the models did a fantastic job, as did all the volunteers.
Legion meets
The American Legion Post 927 Home Association is slated to meet tonight at 7:30 at the Post Home in Gilbert.
The Legion itself will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Band parents
Pleasant Valley Band Parents will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school band room.
Collections begin
The Pleasant Valley Intermediate School PTO will begin its collection contest campaign Thursday, which will run through Oct. 31. The collection includes Box Tops, Labels for Education, ShopRite of Brodheadsville and Weis receipts, and Coke Rewards.
Neighbors can help students by collecting and donating these items to help toward purchasing new playground equipment, end-of-the-year activities, and events for PVI families.
Progress reports
PVI will issue progress reports on Friday.
Ranger Kids field day
Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church in Brodheadsville will host Ranger Kids field day on Saturday, complete with games, crafts, devotions and more.

Pocono Greyhound Adoption will be holding a Meet & Greet at Tractor Supply Co. in Brodheadsville from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Pleasant Valley Elementary School will host Kids Night Out Saturday, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Life Chain
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will do a Life Chain from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday on the church lawn along Route 209.
It is a silent witness to support life for the unborn.
PVEN needs
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's Community Service Center in McIlhaney has been serving families in need since the 1980s, beginning in the attic of Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville. When the Methodist church in McIlhaney disbanded, the church body gave its building to the PVEN.
The roster of families has grown and multiplied. The service center currently needs food staples including cereal, soups, peanut butter and jelly, canned meats or fish, and rice.
Winter is just around the corner, so the PVEN Clothing Bank also needs men's, boys', girls', and women's coats and jackets. School uniforms are always in demand. Also needed are new or gently used blankets, towels and sheet sets.
Donations are accepted from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays and at other times by appointment.
The board of directors for PVEN will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.
Pet blessing
Zion Lutheran will hold its pet blessing at 1 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting. Pets should be appropriately leashed or crated.
West End Missions
This group continues with its Missions Meals every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Route 209.
Fire Safety Week
Pleasant Valley Elementary School will celebrate Fire Safety Week from Oct. 5-11.
Supervisors meet
Chestnuthill Township Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building on Route 715.
Blood drive
Getz Personal Care Home, Route 534 in Jonas, will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17.

Pet parade
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will host the annual Pet Parade on Oct. 25, at the VanBuskirk/Haney Park, Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg, beginning at 11 a.m. There will be prizes for the Most Original, Cutest, Scariest and Owner Look-a-Like.
