Golden Agers
The Sept. 22 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with a prayer and the singing of "God Bless America."
Guests Rob Mikulski and Jackie Vasquez presented a video on gambling addiction among the elderly.
President Irene Hudasky read a letter from Diakon on seeking help with health insurance for those on Social Security.
Hospitality committee for October and November are Fran Hager and Dee Neifert.
The next meeting will be Monday at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall beginning at 1 p.m.
Lansford
Blood drive
The Miller-Keystone Center will conduct a blood drive at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 124 E. Abbott St., Lansford on Oct. 20 from 1-6 p.m.
Participants may walk in or can make an appointment by calling John Karnish at 570-645-3994.
Al-Anon meetings
The Al-Anon group will meet at 7:15 p.m. Monday at St. Katharine Drexel Church Hall, 120 E. Abbott St., Lansford.
Al-Anon is a nonprofit worldwide support organization helping families and friends of loved ones suffering from addiction.
Halloween party
Lansford Alive Event's Committee is sponsoring the Panther Valley Children's Halloween Party. The party will be held from 3-7 p.m. Oct. 25 with a rain date of Oct. 26.
Also, there will be a teen dance from 7-9 p.m. at the Panther Valley Mini Mall.
Registration will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Panther Valley Mini Mall, West Ridge Street.
Summit Hill
Flag program
The Summit Hill Lions Club is continuing its American flag program.
During the good weather months, the flag will fly in Ludlow Park in memory or honor of veterans from the community.
During the week of Oct. 13 the flag will fly in memory of the late Douglas Forslund. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of E-4.
Family members of veterans, or veterans themselves, can request to have the flag flown in honor or memory of any town veteran.
