Thanks for the support
To the Panther Valley Community,
On behalf of all the Marines and Sailors onboard USS Bataan (LHD 5), I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support. We've received numerous care packages, cookies and letters from the community and they have surely been a morale booster on our 9-month deployment!
A special thanks to Andrea Genits Davis, who spearheaded the mission. She has been a friend of mine for 30 years and is also an Air Force veteran, so she knows how much this support means to service members so far away from home. Her kindness and energy is relentless.
We would also like to thank the local businesses and groups that have supported the project: The Sports Zoo, Classic Beverage, No. 9 Mining Museum, Valley Athletic Supply, Dial Soap, Boy Scout Troop 777 from Tamaqua, Tobyhanna Army Depot, teachers and students from both Panther Valley and Jim Thorpe school districts who sent letters and drawings, and the VFW and AMVETS.
Our deployment is coming to a close and we are looking forward to being home with family and friends.
