Genealogy topic
The West End Rotary Club will host Jeffrey Wright as speaker at its breakfast meeting Thursday. He will speak on the topic of genealogy.
The club meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
Planet Learn
The Pleasant Valley Elementary School will hold Planet Learn Kindergarten Night from 5:30 to 7 Thursday.
On Friday PVE and PV Intermediate will celebrate Fall Celebrations Black and White Day.
Monroe seniors
This West End group will meet Oct. 31, Nov. 5 and Nov. 7, beginning at 9 a.m., at Zion Lutheran's Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville.
Fun, friendship, games and food are on the usual agenda.
Trick or treat
West End Park and Open Space Commission will host the annual Trick or Treat night at the Chestnuthill Township Park this Friday.
Groups, businesses or families are invited to trim a window at the park building, decorate a gazebo or take part as a trunk or treat participant.

All Saints Sunday
Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will celebrate All Saints Sunday this weekend. Services are at 5 p.m. Saturday and at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Supervisors
The Chestnuthill Township board of supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Municipal Building in Brodheadsville.
All Souls Mass
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will celebrate All Souls Mass Tuesday at 7 p.m.
No Bible study
McMichaels will not have its usual Tuesday night Bible study due to Election Day and Pastor Unangst being on vacation. Otherwise the study group meets weekly at 7 p.m.
Lioness visit
The Western Pocono Lioness Club will visit Pleasant Valley Manor on Nov. 5 to play bingo with PVM residents and give some gifts.
Library guest
Author Gloria Waldron Hukle will be at the Western Pocono Community Library at 2 p.m. Nov. 5.
Those wanting to be part of her presentation of her latest book should call the library at 570-992-7934 to reserve a seat or to order the book "Threads."
Free yoga
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will offer two free yoga classes at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville. Classes will be instructed by Jen Akob from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12 and 19.

Play equipment sought
The Effort UMC youth group PANDA is seeking donations of yard games and equipment such a croquet set, bean bag toss, plastic horseshoes and stakes.
Bring items to the church office, which is usually open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Warming lives
The PV Diversity Task Force and the PV High School Leo Club is collecting clean, gently used coats and jackets as part of the One Warm Coat Community Service Project. Donations can be taken to the Pleasant Valley High School.
Free coats will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the high school JCM cafeteria.
VALOR is seeking donations for coats and boots for veterans.
Donations may be left at Dunkelbergers on Route 209 in Brodheadsville or brought to Effort UMC.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is collecting coats and boots for the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network.
PVEN serves hundreds of families in need in its West End service area and adjoining townships, so all sizes for males, females and children of all ages are needed.
The Western Pocono Lioness Club is collecting ladies' clothes for the PVEN as well.
Free for seniors
The play "Alice in Zombieland" is being presented free for senior citizens at the Pleasant Valley Middle School at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 13.
Interested seniors are asked to RSVP to Grace Marks at 570-977-4437.
Showtime ahead
Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville will present the classic comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen" Nov. 21 through Nov. 23. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
