Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Aug. 26 at the Ryan Township Fire Company, Barnesville, with 49 members in attendance. One guest, Mary Ann Laughlin, was welcomed.
The business session was conducted by President Eleanor Schmerfeld. Treasurer Shirley Becker provided her report and offered an inspirational reading.
Birthday greetings were offered to Ada Robertson.
The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, at the fire company. The next regular meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
Tax office
The office of Tamaqua Tax Collector Pam McCullion will be closed on Sept. 9, and Sept. 11. Mail payments will continue to be accepted during that time.
Concert
The final event in the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series will be held from 6 to 8 this evening, featuring Fred Douglas (oldies) on the platform at the Tamaqua Train Station.

Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. A contemporary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Tamaqua YMCA. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., GriefShare at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Baptism class at 6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, musician rehearsal at 8:30 a.m., praise practice at 9 a.m.
St. Peter's Union
Sunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. This Sunday's service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes, with Promotion Sunday, will be held at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m., the bell choir will rehearse at 6 p.m. and Daisies, Brownies and Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Sunday school teachers and officers will meet at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, retirees meet at 10 a.m.; Thursday, play practice at 6:30 p.m., senior choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
