An abduction gone awry

Published September 27. 2014 09:00AM

Back in February or March in the Scranton area, a young 10- or 12-year-old boy was shoveling snow in front of his home. A vehicle drove by and stopped. The stranger, a male, asked the youngster if he wanted to go for a ride.

When the boy refused, the interloper grabbed his arm, pulling him inside the vehicle. The kid wasn't stupid; he had the good sense to realize he was being abducted by a fiend and he would have ended up in harm's way.

As the man pulled on his arm, the boy's glove came off, somehow, freeing him from the strong grip. He breathlessly fled to his home while the car sped off out of sight.

Luckily for the youngster, one could say, his glove saved him from a disastrous fate. There's many evil, unhinged characters out there in crazyland! So many deranged minds; the world isn't safe for our innocent children or adults.

Always emphasize to your kids NEVER to accept a ride with strangers. A life he or she might save could be their very own.

Life is too uncertain; impending terror could prevail just around the corner! There's a heap of appalling shootings in this new millennium. Now in our 15th year of the 21st century, our lifestyle is becoming more infested with criminal acts that simply will not vanish. Does anyone have an affirmative solution to today's troubled society? If you have a concrete solution to end the killings and drug abuse, you'll be awarded half the gold at Fort Knox. All pun intended.

The reason for mentioning the failed abduction of the young boy is a perfect example that your child is NOT immune from a possible kidnapping and becoming a heartbreaking, living nightmare!

Our country and the world beyond will continue having daily tragedies, which, we must accept in a universe that will NEVER be perfect.

Only God is perfect. We should all try to love one another and STOP the murders and drug abusers by eliminating guns from our society. Instead of using guns and drugs, use prayers. Learn to love; not kill! What a beautiful life our future could be. Remember, killing is strictly taboo, while love can last forever!
