Tamaqua man cited for underage drinking
A Tamaqua man was cited by Coaldale Police after a vehicle stop on March 27 along Route 209.
An officer was on patrol at 2 a.m., driving east, when he saw a white Mitsubishi traveling west. The driver of the car failed to dim his high beams as he approached and passed the police cruiser. The officer turned around and followed the car until it swerved over the double yellow lines and white fog line several times. He initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver of the Mitsubishi as Kyle Terrance Rabenold, 20, of 446 Arlington St., Tamaqua.
Rabenold said he was tired and on his way home. Despite the odor of alcohol coming from his breath, he denied drinking any alcohol. He was given, and failed, three field sobriety tests and was then transported to the hospital for blood tests.
After police received the results of those tests, which indicate Rabenold had a blood-alcohol level of 0.131 percent, they filed charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to dim the high beams, failure to stay in a single lane and underage drinking.
