Philly man facing charges in Carbon
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said Tyree Burns of Philadelphia was arrested after a traffic stop at 12:56 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 80 westbound in East Side Borough Carbon County.
He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana and committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning.
Police said they stopped a car Burns was operating for several traffic violations, after which time police detected a odor of marijuana from the interior of the vehicle.
A probably cause search resulted in the discovery of a stolen Hi-Point .40-caliber pistol inside the vehicle, while Burns surrendered a plastic bag containing a half-ounce of marijuana that he had concealed in his genital area.
