Tamaqua native will celebrate 90 years

Mrs. Rose (Jakubco) Barletta, formerly of Tamaqua, is celebrating her 90th birthday today with a family dinner at La Dolce Casa Restaurant in Tamaqua.

She was born April 21, 1925.

The widow of Vincent J. Barletta, who died Oct. 29, 1984, she has been a resident of the Hometown Nursing Center for the past four years.

After graduating from the former St. Ann's High School, Lansford, in 1943, she went to work for the late optometrist Dr. Harry T. Billiger in his Bonded Optical office in Tamaqua. She worked for Dr. Billiger for 30 years.

She was one of seven children: Edward Jakubco and his wife, Elaine, of Flemington, New Jersey.; Father Bernard Jakubco of Perry, Florida.; and the late Sister Rosella MSC, Sister Francis MSC, Mrs. Frances Cebulak and Joseph Jakubco.

Mrs. Barletta has a daughter, Grace Ann, wife of Walter J. Getz of White Haven; two grandsons, Chad Barron and Scott Barron and his wife, Colleen; and three great grandsons, Daylon, Nick and Carson Barron.
