Tamaqua man jailed on warrant

Published August 04. 2015 04:00PM

An argument in Tamaqua on July 29 sent one man to the county jail in Pottsville.

Police were dispatched to the area of Pine and Mauch Chunk streets at 7 p.m. for a fight in progress involving four or five people. At the scene they spoke with several people who were unhappy with John Smith, 26, of 216 Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua.

One was looking for a laptop computer he thought Smith may have taken and another wanted a phone returned that Smith had borrowed.

While neither party elected to file a formal complaint, Smith had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by the Schuylkill County Adult Probation office.

He was arrested and transferred to the custody of the probation office, then incarcerated in the Schuylkill County Prison.
