Truck avoids deer, crashes in Schuylkill

State police at the Frackville barracks said a Zion Grove man escaped injury when his truck crashed after he swerved to avoid striking a deer at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 9 on Ringtown Road in North Union Township.

Police said Patrick G. Donnelly, 26, was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram northbound when the incident happened. After avoiding the deer, the truck traveled off the east shoulder of the road, striking the guardrail with its front passenger's side. After the impact, the vehicle went about a tenth of a mile north before coming to rest on the east shoulder of the road.

Police said the truck sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
