Tire blowout leads to interstate crash

No one was injured in a two-vehicle mishap that happened after a tire blew out on a truck at 12:16 a.m. Aug. 13 on Interstate 81 in Kline Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Edward J. Vanek, Jr., 45, of Hazleton, was driving a 1995 Freightliner tri-axle truck that was southbound. Police said he was changing lanes from right to left when the front driver's side tire blew out.

As he slowed to regain control of the vehicle, a 2015 BMW M4, operated by Robert A. Pavlick, 52, of Freeland, which was also traveling south, struck the rear of the truck. Bothvehicles came to restin the median facingsouth.
