Schuylkill teen cited after crash

A Schuylkill County teen was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:06 p.m. on Monday along Second Mountain Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 17-year-old male from Saint Clair was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango southbound and negotiating a right-hand curve when the vehicle began to spin clockwise. The Durango traveled about 5 feet off the right side of the road and struck a dirt embankment with the front bumper. After impact, the Durango continued to spin clockwise while continuing south, then struck the embankment a second time with the driver's side rear bumper. The Durango continued south another 80 feet before coming to rest in the southbound lane facing southwest.

The teen and his 16-year-old female passenger from Orwigsburg had minor injuries and were taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville.

Troopers cited the driver for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
