Fire call leads to arrest

A man with a Schuylkill Haven address has been cited by Tamaqua police after a fire call on Nov. 28.

The Tamaqua, Hometown and Quakake fire companies were dispatched at 9 p.m. to a wooded area just off Route 309, between Taggertsville Road and Schickram's Car Wash. They found a tent on fire and Walter M. Gera, 44.

Gera was in a highly intoxicated condition and was carried out of the woods by members of Tamaqua's South Ward and American Hose fire companies.

He was transported to a local hospital by Lehighton paramedics.

Police have cited him for public drunkenness.
