Passenger found with heroin in I-80 stop

A passenger in a vehicle stopped along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, was charged with drug counts.

State police at Fern Ridge said a vehicle stop was made about 12:26 p.m. on Saturday. At the stop troopers questioned the passenger, identified as Stephanie Diana Baran, 28, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County.

A check of Baran's name revealed she was wanted on a active warrant issued to Hazleton police.

During a search while taking her into custody troopers found 12 hypodermic needles, 30 stamped packets of heroin and four glass pipes and other drug paraphernalia.
