What is Christmas without Jesus

What is Christmas without Jesus?

If anyone is celebrating Christmas without realizing the true meaning of Christmas as being the most wonderful birth of Jesus Christ our lord and savior, the only son of God, they shouldn't be partaking in this glorious holy day at all.

If non-Christians want to celebrate a day of gift giving with Santa Claus as their main character of preference to represent their holiday they should choose an alternative day of the year rather than Dec. 25.

Unfortunately, during the many years the Christmas holiday in America has been established, this holy day of celebration has become more of a commercialized, materialistic, big money making commodity for all types of business capitalism, taking away from the true spirit of Christmas. I would imagine if there was a popular poll taken throughout the country there would be plenty of people who would not know the real reason for celebrating Christmas. This is noticed by fewer and fewer Christmas nativity displays on front lawns, and not a one to be found in public franchises. You will see plenty of Santas with sleigh and reindeers, along with many other holiday attractions which have nothing to do with the birth of Christ.

What are we really teaching our children concerning the real significance of Christmas? When my wife and I were young parents raising our four children, we made sure all of our children knew all about the birth of Jesus Christ. I remember one Christmas when I was inspired to handcraft all of the nativity figurines out of wood. I decorated each piece with colored felt cloth to identify each character along with the baby Jesus lying in a manger. This left an everlasting impression on our children through their interacting with this toy Christmas nativity. We knew this would help our children to remember the true meaning of Christmas, and the importance of passing Jesus' birthday on to their children someday.

The greatest gift anyone can ever receive while here on Earth as a mortal human being is in receiving Jesus Christ as our own personal Savior. This being a truly blessed token of God's Love offered to all of us who believe in him and live by his commandments. As sincere Christian believers in our Lord Jesus, we will diligently continue to celebrate his most precious birthday as a glorious occasion for rejoicing, and wishing everyone we meet with a cheerful "Merry Christmas" symbolizing one of the holiest days of the year.
