A Northumberland County man is facing a charge of retail theft following an incident at a Schuylkill County department store.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Joshua Harkins, 31, of Mount Carmel, entered Kohl's Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, Norwegian Township, at 8:52 p.m. Sunday and was observed on video surveillance concealing items. He then attempted to leave the store without paying for them but was detained by store employees. Total value of the items concealed was $261.79.

While investigating the incident, troopers learned that Harkins had an active bench warrant for him issued out of Lebanon County. He was taken into custody and placed in the county prison in Pottsville on the warrant.
