Tamaqua man facing charges

Published December 17. 2015 04:00PM

A Tamaqua man will be charged after an incident where he was caught driving without a license Friday.

Tamaqua police received an anonymous tip that Anthony William Valentine, 22, of 311 Penn St., Tamaqua, was driving around town in his father's silver Monte Carlo. Police were aware that Valentine does not have a valid driver's license and found him driving east on Penn Street in the area of his home.

Valentine readily admitted he doesn't have a license, then gave permission for police to search him and the vehicle. In between the front seats, officers found three packets stamped "zombie" (suspected heroin) and an Oxycodone pill.

Valentine faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license.
