Mortgage foreclosure

Nationstar Mortgage LLC, dba Champion Mortgage Co., Coppell, Texas, has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against James and Laurie Dunkle, 153 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, over a property at that address.

Judgment in the amount of $82,741.32, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs is being sought.

Defaulted on note

The Mauch Chunk Trust Company, 1111 North St., Jim Thorpe, has filed a civil action against David J. Stianche, 123 Center St., Jim Thorpe.

The suit states the defendant executed a promissory note in the amount of $113,500 on May 20, 2011, delivering a mortgage that encumbered the property at the above listed address as security for the loan which is now in default.

Judgment in the amount of $65,143.65, plus interest, late charges, attorney's fees and costs is sought.

Victims of scam

Dustin L. and Danielle C. Rodgers, 152 Primrose Lane, Jim Thorpe, has filed a civil action against Wells Fargo Bank N.A., 145 Interchange Road, Lehighton, alleging they were victims of a mortgage modification scam in which they claim the defendant is at fault.

The plaintiffs say they contacted an individual who identified himself as a Kevin Fox to negotiate a modification of a mortgage they had with the Bank of America and that they subsequently made monthly payments of $963.27 from April 2012 to January 2014 to pay accruing interest and the escrow component of their mortgage while the modification negotiations continued.

The complaint states during that time Fox deposited the funds in a Wells Fargo account identified as Rapid Cash Advance Inc., dba HUD-Making Home Affordable, dba Modify Law Center, even though the payments were made payable to the Bank of America.

The plaintiffs charge the defendants with violation of the Uniform Commercial Code by allowing the illegal transmittals and asks the court for judgment in the amount of $21,191.94, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief deemed fair by the court.

PA Revenue claims

Three separate liens have been filed by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Bureau of Compliance, relating to Carbon County businesses. They include:

Karen Schleicher, individually, and as a responsible party of Little Paisans LLC, 230 Carbon St., Lehighton, a $914.65 lien relating to sales taxes owed from October through December 2010.

Angela L. Costello, individually, and as president of 1879 Inc., 645 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, a $1,410.97 lien relating to sales taxes owed from October through December 2010, and employer taxes owed from January through March, 2011.

ASK Holding Inc., 1358 Route 903, Jim Thorpe, a $4,611.79 lien relating to capital stock, loan and corporate net income taxes for the year 2015.

PA tax liens filed

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Labor and Industry, Harrisburg, has filed liens against two Carbon County parties, including:

The Lehighton Legion Home Association, 314 Veterans Ave., Lehighton - a lien in the amount of $891.99 in funds the state says it failed to pay in employer and employee withholdings to the use of the state's Unemployment Compensation Fund.

Pizza Como, U.S.S., Uno, Inc., 1241 Blakeslee Blvd., Lehighton - a lien in the amount of $1,163.61 in funds the state says it failed to pay in employer and employee withholdings to the use of the state's Unemployment Compensation Fund.

Federal tax lien

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has filed a federal tax lien against Donald Hill, 31 N. Chestnut St., Tresckow.

The lien, in the amount of $9,343.95, represents 1040 taxes owed by the defendant as a self-employed small-business man for tax periods ending Dec. 31, 2010, and 2011.
